Many companies in high-stress industries or those with a strong culture of wellness are turning to massage therapy to calm workers' nerves, enhance productivity and preserve a healthy bottom line.
"Massage therapy benefits every system in the body. It reduces blood pressure, it aids relaxation, it improves posture, it fosters faster healing of strained muscles, it helps relieve tension, headaches and eye strain, it reduces levels of anxiety, it satisfies the need for caring, nurturing touch and it increases the mind body connection," says Marilyn Kier, licensed massage therapist, Wellness at Work, LLC.

Health Talks are an excellent way to introduce popular and timely wellness topics to your team in a group setting. Traditionally these talks are scheduled during lunch breaks, however, both breakfast and dinner talks are an additional option. Our doctors are happy to bring a healthy meal as an added bonus for qualified groups and audiences while your team enjoys the presentation.
The health talks can be presented in either a 15 or 45 minute format depending on the time available.
Most groups choose to schedule multiple talks over a series of months to expose their team to a variety of topics with ample time in between to practice and implement some of the learned strategies. We've found that increasing wellness isn't a one-time event, but rather a process that develops over time.
Our most popular health talk topics include:
Headaches
Healthy Living to 100
Eat This and Not That (Nutrition)
Stress

Our doctors have invested in and utilize cutting-edge technology that assesses a person's ability to adapt to stress which ultimately affects their overall health and well-being.
This is a non-invasive, painless & private test that provides immediate results. The testing is done through a computerized format with Space Foundation Certified Technology used to check NASA astronauts and elite athletes. This state-of-the-art technology allows a confidential and categorical read of your stress levels. At-risk individuals can be identified before this results in an illness or injury, that in turn will inevitably lead to low productivity or worse, absenteeism. By making a computerized read, and analyzing the data onsite, solutions can be given to initiate immediate changes. These health recommendations will also be given the correct context to maximize the effectiveness provided. Each participating employee in the stress analysis, will have a follow up recommendation that educates them on how to become more active in their own health. The individual approach will help each person take responsibility for their health first, and give future, proactive answers. The computerized stress analysis usually takes 15 minutes.
Have you thought about organizing a health fair for your group, yet hesitated because you weren't sure how to get started or who to call? Let us do the work for you. We organize everything from a simple event that offers a few basic screening tests, all the way up to a more comprehensive event that includes screening tests for: stress, vision, dental, cholesterol, BMI, and blood pressure.
These fun and informational health fairs generally take place during the afternoon and provide each individual the most information about their overall health in the shortest period of time.
Our volunteer doctors and their staff are there to review the results of many of these screening tests with the participants, and to advise them on a healthy and logical next step when necessary.

Why in the Workplace?
Poor health impacts the most precious resource of your organization - the effectiveness and performance of your human capital. Unmanaged health issues, such as diabetes, migraine headaches, or asthma attacks, can damage productivity significantly when they are viewed cumulatively across an employee population.
The workplace is an ideal setting to address these health issues and promote healthier lifestyles. At the workplace, individuals can obtain health-related information, take part in health screenings and preventive services, and gain the social support often needed for health behavior change.
In addition to helping employees sustain healthier habits, corporate wellness programs also reduce stress, increase employee job satisfaction, increase employee morale, and aid in employee recruitment and retention.

Return on Investment
Best of all, the return-on-investment (ROI) for corporate wellness programs have been well documented over the past two decades. Year-round comprehensive corporate wellness programs have shown savings-to-cost ratios of over $3 saved for each $1 invested. Documented savings are observed in medical costs, absenteeism, worker’s compensation costs, short-term disability, and increased productivity and presenteeism (how productive the employee is during time on the job).
Corporate Wellness Programs not only use targeted interventions to reduce health costs, but are also a strategy to create a dynamic work environment. Health promotion programs create an organizational culture that fosters vitality, motivation, and synergy. Corporate Wellness Programs are a worthwhile, long-term strategy to improving the health and well-being of your employees.

Reducing the Burden of Obesity
Sixty percent of U.S. adults are overweight or obese, a 74% increase in prevalence since 1991. Being overweight or obese makes people much more likely to develop a variety of health problems, including diabetes, heart disease and cancer. “Nearly two out of three people are overweight, and one out of three is obese. The prevalence of obese children is on the rise, currently 15 percent of children are considered overweight or obese. "The rate in which this epidemic is growing is stunning.," says Surgeon General Richard Carmona.
Less than 15% of Americans eat the daily recommended number of fruits and vegetables, and less than 25% get the recommended amounts of exercise. The consequences of those choices cost taxpayers money, hurt business productivity, and diminish quality of life for millions of Americans. Inactive lifestyles and poor eating habits are much of the reason our national cost of health care now exceeds two trillion dollars. These medical costs directly affect you as an employer and a taxpayer.
